The History of Maren Ord....

MARON
Maren Ord. Who is she? Well, thats a tough question, but I'll do my best to answer it.
Maren Whitney Ord was born Feb 28th, 1981 in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. She is the 8th of 10 children, and attended elementary, junior high, and high school in Edmonton.
Growing up, Maren always had a tendency to sing whatever was being played on her older siblings stereos, whether that was Whitney Houston, George Michael, Erasure, or the Pet Shop Boys ... all that good old stuff. Singing is not a stranger in the Ord home, except that Maren had a way of constantly doing it, and over time she did it very well.
Maren, already being very talented at playing the piano (her mom taught piano), decided that she would take up the guitar. Using her mom's guitar, Maren taught herself to play at age 15.
Maren found out about a contest at a local radio station from her sister, and recorded 4 songs she has written that night. She won 2 songs on a compilation CD know as Power92 Picks Volume II. These songs were Eternity and Falling Slowly. Greg Kavanaugh produced the album, and continued to work with Maren as her manager.
After Maren played at various gigs and venues across Canada, she was introduced to Terry McBride (manager of people such as Barenaked Ladies, Sarah McLachlan) while auditioning to play at Lilith Fair in 1998. Terry took great interest, and Maren eventually took Terry on as her manager. She signed later with Nettwerk as her Canadian label, and Capitol/EMI as her USA/International label, as well with Sony/ATV Publishing.
Maren has been working on her album ever since. After spending several months recording her album in New York and London with producer Stephen Hague, she finally released a special edition of Waiting Nov 7th, 2000 with Highway Records, to 300+ Christian bookstores in the U.S. (an extra track is on this edition)
Finally, after a few years of waiting... ahem...Waiting is now available in Canada. (Feb 20th, 2001). The wider U.S. and international release is slated for the summer of 2001 (Captiol/EMI).
